Beginnings

"They" say (whoever they are) that you learn something new every day. I believe it, even if it's something as trivial as finding out that hamburger grease is a pain to clean off the stove. But I have five children, grown now, and deal with young people every day. I learn a lot from them. Sometimes I learn things I didn't want to know, like the fact that one third of college kids are on meds. Or the fact that a small town may be a safe place to live but it also means you have really bored policemen who will give you a ticket for having a nick in your windshield or parking your car across the sidewalk. Even worse, my daughter almost got a ticket for jaywalking! I thought that went out with women getting in trouble for their ankles showing. But what do I know? Well I know something new every day. If you learned something new, add your story and new knowledge here to share with us all. And keep in mind: this is something new about the stuff of life. If you are in school, well I hope you learn something new each day like what photosynthesis is or how to figure square roots. But those are things you can look up on Wikipedia. This is beyond wikipedia. This is life.
